A luxurious concept store with cosmetics - this is the Byssine salon in Prague's Karlín. Its owner, Lenka Šťastná, has expanded the idea of the original e-shop into something much more complex - a beauty salon offering rituals and products for face and body.
And because the services and products offered in this salon are highly exclusive (some of them are said to be used by Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga), the environment itself has a distinctive and unmistakable design, which was created in collaboration with designer Nora Snopková and architects Martin Petřík and Tomáš Kotrč.
The interior of the salon is made up of solitaires, such as a wooden table originally used in the ceremonial hall for weddings, vintage chairs, a modern painting inspired by the works of the Old Masters or a golden grid separating the shop area from the rest of the space.
With such dominant pieces of furniture and other accessories, it was necessary to keep the rest of the interior in muted colours, so the walls and floors are mostly in grey, or at most grey-green shades.
For the floor, the architects chose our design cement screed in Olive Grey, which was applied to almost 45 m2 of floor space in total.
Before applying the screed, it was necessary to prepare the surface perfectly - the screed is only 2-3 mm thick and any imperfection in the substrate could be fatal. In this case, it was enough to sand the surface, repair the exposed cracks and level it.
The final screed floor with its fine visible strokes looks very luxurious and fits perfectly into the chosen concept.
Another advantage of cement floor is that they are jointless and therefore relatively easy to maintain, for which normal vacuuming and mopping are sufficient.
